Hey everyone, is there anyone going out in Jan 08? I know most people who've applied so far are going earlier than that, but hey, thought it best to get in early!

Our pre-departure course is all together, and I think we all leave together. Another med placement! Congrats Lou. That's 3 of us now, anyway. Woo!

Are you at sixth form/ college now?

Do you know what you wanna do when you get back, uni/work-wise?

Yeah, I got the South India Lonely Planet (but I haven't started reading it yet! :S).

I'm at 6th form too, and when I finish in June/July, I wanna visit Cuba for 2/3 weeks hopefully, if I have enough cash saved up. Then when I get back, it's f/t work to make up the rest to go to India!

I'm applyin for medicine (depending on 3 A's :S) before I leave. Maybe we'll both be working at the same hospital a few years down the line!

I was gonna do a trip round the south, Pondicherry, Madurai, Kerala, Bengalaru, Goa and then Mumbai (all things going well!) and back down to Chennai.

I'm not workin at the mo, I'm still doin A-Levels (coursework= :shock:argh!). I might be gettin a job soon in Waitrose (hopefully something else will come up, but til then...) which should guarantee me what I need for the trip. I'm hopin to stay for the full 6 months, but I'll wait til I'm there to decide.

I went and got some of my injections (diptheria, polio tetanus + Hep. A) today. My arms are absolutely killing me! One in each arm!

think i would just do a trip round the south but i want to see the taj mahal, you cant really go to india and not see it! so think im gunna have to go abit further afield.

No, fundraising's a bit out of my league! :D

I didn't even think of the Mahal! I guess I will be travelling more than I thought!

For the vacs- it's your booster of Diptheria, tetanus + Polio (if u had them in yr 7/8 like me), Hep A, Rabies (i didn't know it could be transmitted by a lick! :S), Not Yellow Fever, and...I can't remember the other one. Typhoid! And meninghitis! (I've never put this much enthusiasm into naming diseases before!) Oh, and the anti-malarial drugs have to be taken regularly while you're out there. Apparently the worst thing you could do is have 'risky sex'. So no hanging off cliffs sex or bungee-jumping sex, I assume :P
