Well iv just been looking up or trying to look up the price of jabs and which ones are required, but i havnt managed to find two sites that say the same thing as of yet, think ill just find out from my doctor.
and as far as the risky sex goes, think ill be ok on that one, as im not sure how my boyfriend would react to any sex, let alone risky! however i did have a good laugh at that little nugget of information.
as for the fundraising i most certainly will be doing some, i seem to be finding out a new thing by the day that i have to shell out for! so... i will hopefully be doing a sky dive in the summer to help raise some of it, and i read about grant making trusts from someone on here which sounds good so im gunna give them a try. as for the rest, im afraid its just gunna be hard work and determination!
any ideas tho would be appreciated!

A sky dive to fund-raise?! WOW! Maybe I will get fund-raising after all...
The booster was free, the Hep A full course is £50 on the NHS. However, a little known trick of the trade ( ) is to say that you are going out for occupational reasons (i.e working in a hospital- seemed to impress the nurse) and it is free. Woo! The other one is a tenner, and thats unavoidable, but better a tenner than £60!
Do you ever feel happy when you get something for free just because you had a conversation with someone and they were impressed? I got the jabs free, after talking to the nurse for a little bit (she was gonna send me to the ATM :S !), I got a free replacement iPod yesterday after talking to the girl in the Apple, even though my warranty ran out in September, I got a free coffee today for talking to the owner of the coffee shop. It's not the free stuff so much as the feeling you get, what I like.

Well thats what i though, for some strange reason i really want to do a sky dive anyway, so thought id combine the two and use it to raise money.
i know what you mean about free stuff, it does give you a good feeling nomatter what it is, like i got some vouchers from boots the otherday for no apparent reason, but it was nice cus i wasnt expecting it. and its like findin money youd forgotten about, it doesnt matter if it a pound or £10, its just a nice supprise.
Cheers for the tip about the jabs, that will certainly help my bank balance!
is there anything that youve come across yet that people say you cant go without? im trying to build up a list so i can be as well prepared as i can, makes sence really, think the guide book points out some good things, such as universal plug! i wouldnt have thought about that in a million yrs!

thanks for the jabs info twill be very usefull.
i agree free stuff is great, last week i got a free bowl of pasta from the italian cafe owner for rewriting his chalk board outside after it rained.
one of my friends who went to africa last year thinks those foldable water bottle things are really good as then you know all the water your drinking is clean, and they dont take up as much space. also useful as you can but boiling water in them without them dying.
lous fundraising sounds amazing and alot more fun than my planned idea of doing boot sales, i may have to rethink

there a really good idea, sound silly that, but i hadnt thought of it. although i just looked them up on the internet (as i wasnt sure what it was when i first read it!) but the only ones i could find that seemed ok were in america, but im sure theyll have them in camping shops over here! i read somewhere what alot of people do when they travel if its cold, they fill up there bottles at night with hot water then its safe to use the next day, solves two things in one!
dw about the fundraising thing, i had car boot sales down too. the sky dive thing is just the best thing i came up with, as well as wanting to do it anyway! i'm doin things apart from that. but if i do that it means im doing somethin people can actually sponsor me for, rather than just asking for donations in the hope that ill be able to raise more money that way as people are usually more genorous if you can tell them exactly what your doing and what your doin it for, rather than just askin for money. du get what i mean? sorry i rambled on abit then!
you planning on doin anything else?

you can get them bottles from most camping shops the most well known ones are called "Platipus" but there are some own brand alternatives - although these tend to be huge 2 litre sizes as far as i could see. i got one for DofE last year and think it was aboot £6-7 for a litre one.
found a picture here: http://www.fieldandtrek.com/find.asp?cid=DXSHCS5L2BGVEMAPLPSWN9LPBSBHWZOC
the tubes are great fun as they can sometimmes get frozen and you get slushies but pretty pointless unless you are walking all day.

hey, im doin a medical placement in chennai. them bottles are a good idea think ill find a shop that does them tho, im not payin £3+ for delivery when i could get it myself!
about the money, well i was gunna do a sky dive, however change of plan as it costs so much to do it, the money (as my mum pointed out) could be going towards the actual trip! so, now im doin a sponsered bike ride in may and ive got a bike shop to hire out 2 bikes free of charge to us, and as its gunna take a day to get where were goin and a day back, we need somewhere to stay, so... ive also got us a room in a hotel free. so im getting sponsors for that, and ive also sent out 24 letters to companies asking for donations and will be sending more, but need more stamps! and im doin a table top sale in a couple of weeks sellin cakes, as i like cooking and esp decorating them! and anything else i can get donated from people and shops.
im on half term at the mo, which have given me the time to get really stuch in, think thats just what you got to do, and hasstle as many people and companies as you can, oh and work as well cus thats prob where the mojority of the money will come from! hope thats of some help to you

See, that was what put me off the idea of sky-diving, I thought it was well dear. Good luck on the bike ride and congrats on getting all that free stuff!! I've just finished my application form for my job (my mate works in the deli counter :S !)
I might ask my old cadet squadron to lend me one of their waist-packs, with the water bottle in them. They're so comfy, and military quality, so it's all hard-wearing. If I remember correctly, I think it's called webbing? It's the perfect thing for long walks etc because it's lightweight, but you could hardly walk around the city with it on. And I might have to find one that doesn't have military patterning on it!! :S

| Only thing about working til Jan is that the full balance is due two months (70 days) before you are due to depart. If I don't have it all by then, I guess I'll just borrow it and work, then pay it back. Last edited on 24 Feb 2007 04:37 pm by Brad

| Wow, that sounds like intense voluntary work!! I guess working in a residential home is the perfect work training for someone who wants to be a nurse! Good on ya. Good thing about the vac too, but I got a really bad case of flu the week after I had mine done. I know what u mean about gettin them out the way, there's so much else to worry about! It's getting closer and closer...

God no, that isnt volentary work i get paid for that! come on, wouldnt you want to be paid for cleaning up someone esles crap when they bacically just wiped it in your face, oh and not to metion the part where he managed to get it in my mouth! no im not fibbing either. hence the urgency to get the jab done lol.
well i just finished my leaflet for my cakes, looks quite good actually, and i ordered a load of info leaflets etc on fair trade stuff as im gunna use fair trade and organic stuff im the hope that they'll sell better, and i can also charge more. that sound really bad but i dont mean it that way, honist!

I would more than expect to get paid- I'd expect danger money too! Using Fairtrade is a good idea, people are more likely to buy it, you'll make more cash, and a farmer half way across the world can afford to send his kids to school- everyone's a winner!
How did the jabs go (you are getting them today)?

hey, got my jabs done last wednesday, it was ok, but i got a really bad head and felt like i had flu my whole body was aching and all my joints were hurting, not nice, felt better by the next afternoon tho, so wasnt too bad. got to go back for two more tho, one in a month then one in 5 months time, the joys of working in care!
picked up all my fair trade stuff today, leaflets etc that i ordered. started makin my cakes today too, as i realised yesterday that i only have one week till i have to do it and kind of paniced as ive been so organised, but the one important thing i forgot to do! so ive made a start. ive done 3 large and about30 small, still got loads to do but im glad ive done them ones. ive frozen them all so they'll still be fresh too, so by the end of the week all ill have to do is decorate them, ill try and get some pictures on here for you to see when ive done it

Wey!!! Excellent stuff. Good luck with the cake sale! I'd buy some, but I think they'd get a bit mashed up in the post
When u say ur using Fairtrade stuff, did u get like a pack, or the ingredients are all gonna be like Fairtrade and organic stuff?
I (finally!) handed in my application for a job in Waitrose yesterday- and they've given me an interview for tomorrow!! So I'm well pleased bout that. Gonna be a bit of a rushed day tho, I finish college at 12:45, the interview is at 2 (I gotta run home and get smarted out) and then I'm babysitting from 4 til 9!! :S

i got a load of info off the website and they sent me loads of leaflets and posters etc. but the ingredients i just got from supermarkets individually. its fair trade fortnight from 26th feb-11march, so lots of places have stuff on offer at the mo, so again it fits in really well at the mo *good selling point*!
ive nearly finished all my baking so far ive done -
(big cakes) 3 Banana cakes, 1 Lemon cake, 1 Chocolate chunk cake, 1 Chocolate cake and 1 Coffee and walnut cake
(Small cakes) 12 Chocolate melt fairy cakes, 24 Plain fairy cakes, 18 White crispy chocolate fairy cakes, 18 Lemon fairy cakes and 12 Chocolate fairy cakes and 31 flapjacks (but we ate some of them!) and i have to do crispy cakes, muffins and have two more of the large cakes to do. so been busy, just got to decorate that lot now lol. feel really nervous for some reason, im goin up to my grandmas tomorrow, which is prob why cus were not comin back till the mornin of the sale so need to be organised before i go, but think (well, hope) it will be ok!
well good luck with your interview, im sure if you did ok in your interview for india, (which you obviously did, otherwise you wouldnt be going!) that youll do fine in this one.

But on the bad side, I flopped my biology module and have to resit in the summer :S
