yea the cake sale was sunday, it was ok, but i wasnt in the main room and the room they put me in wasnt signed very well so it was really quiet, but with the stuff that i didnt sell i took it round to my neighbours (i was determind to get rid of it!) and sold most of it, and my mum took the rest to work and sold it lol, so.. its all gone now and a raised over £100, which im really happy with, and i also got an order for a birthday cake and some sponsors for my bike ride, so thats a good start.
well done one your job. i wouldnt worry about the biology test too much a had a failer too today. i took my driving test, i only got 7minors and the examiner said it was a really good drive and that i sooo nearly passed, but i went up on the curb doin a revers round the bloody corner! nevermind just got a re-take it, but the waiting list for my centre is about 8 weeks which im not happy about, but im gunna book one and keep ringing up for cancelations, thats all i can do really. doesnt stop me being mad tho!

Shame about the un-signposted room, but £100 is a brilliant start, and the more sponsors the better! And at least you got support from your ma and that. Seems like everyone's gettin these £100's comin in, I gotta get mine!
8 weeks!! Bloody hell, I guess that's all you can do, just keep checkin up. But, yeah, don't worry about it, sounds like you did well, and I'm sure you'll get it next time round.
300 days to go til Jan 2008....

Well at least i flogger the rest anyway! havent got round to booking another test yet, im desperatly waiting for pay day! this month i short, but it feels like its takin forever! i got paid weekly in my old job that i left just befor christmas, so im finding it really hard to adjust to monthly. nevermind, its actually easier to save this way, and the fact that im puttin half of it way each month prob is why im finding it hard!
i cant believe its only that amount of time, because it in jan, you kind of think, well its not till next year is it, but its goin down so quickly, put in days it sounds scary!
Just a though, add me to msn if you like Punkyfish578@hotmail.com

Hey
Sent you the pics and added you to msn brad.
Had some really good news this morning though! i sent out letters to loads of companies asking for help with funding, and i got a letter back this morning from wilkinson, saying that i have been invited to a cheque givin presentation. well i hadnt heard anything from them about this before so i rang them and spoke t the person who organises it, as the date its on i have to go on a training course for work so i cant go. but she said that doesnt matter, there gunna give me £1000!!! that is the best thing ive heard in AGES! im so exited, its gunna make thigs so much easier and take the pressure off alot!
So, funraising ideas, if anyones having probs i would definitly recomend writing to companies, and be patient as i sent mine out quite a while ago, but hey, that shows the effort pays off!

OMG!!!!! WOOOOOO!! That is absolutely excellent news! £1000 in the bank! Blimey. Ace stuff. Think I might have to get my arse into gear and start writing out these letters.
Cheers for the pics, that was a lot of cakes!!! I'm surprised they didn't sell out in minutes, they looked gorgeous! I've eaten too much cake- it was my 18th of wednesday, so I had a cake with the family, Thursday I went in and had a mini cake with workmates then yesterday I went out for my birthday meal at a shisha place and had more cake!! I'm gonna look like a cake by monday!

HI! Good to be in contact!
I'm from East Sussex, from a small village near East Grinstead that's right between London and Brighton.
So I'm Angelina and I'm just finishing my A-levels like I believe all of you are. I'm nineteen, originally from Australia and quite a crazy person. I'm traveling in eight weeks for a whole 12 months ( I leave two days after my last exam!) and will arrive in India with already half a year of traveling behind me.
I'm doing the medical placement because I'm hugely interested in medicine and health (systems) around the world. I'm going to study medical biology at Edinburgh after I return, in July. Am as yet undecided as to whether I'll stay with Changing Worlds for the whole of those six months. What about you (and the rest of you doing medical placements)? Also, do you know when the flights are booked to India or what day we're supposed to arrive? I've made my own travel arrangements so I hope I manage to coincide your arrival with my own.
So what are your plans before you go to India? Are you also making your own travel arrangements?
Look forward to meeting you and all the other people going to India!

Hey,
Wow, your gunna be an expert on travelling by the time you get to India! Not sure of the exact date we get there yet. Just early Jan as far as i know. Thats really exiting to be goin travelling for that long, your brave!
Well, at the moment i'm not doing my A-levels, i was but decided to leave early and work full time as of tomoro, in my current part time job. I'm a supposrt worker in a residential home for adults with learning disabilities and challenging behavoir. hard work, but i love it. and its also great expirience before i go to india and for the future, as im doing nursing at uni in sept 08.
Think i've decided in want to stay for the whole 6months, i'm planning to do 4months in placement and 2months travelling, then back home to work some more and off to uni! i'm in the middle of my application at the mo, bit scary, but all my choices are in london, so atleast i know roughly where im gunna be, and hopefully ill know exactly where im gunna be before i leave for india.
So i guess you not coming to the pre departure course then?
Lou x
P.s, seen as your going soon, maybe you can answer somethings ive been wondering about, equipment wise. what kind of water purification equipment are gunna use. and, well for the india part are you takin a sleeping bag? and if so what type. i cant stand the things (just the thought of those mummy ones makes me feel claustrophobic!) but i guess i need one really. but its gunna be so hot i dont know if ill actually use it, or does it get cold enough at night to need one? sorry bit of a babble there! x

Hello!
Sorry it's taken so long to reply. Been pretty busy with revision and exams...and packing!.....not long now till I leave...!
So, in answer to the water purification question, I'm really sure you won't need that. I spoke to David Gill and he suggested buying bottled water. I think I'm right in saying you can fill up on water, or buy it, at the hospital, where we're staying. I think water purification tablets might be ok for those who stay in India for say a week and whose bodies don't acclimatise to the different bacteria (and other things in water.) But we'll be there long enough for our bodies to adapt a little to it all. I could be wrong there though. Have a chat David on the pre-departure day if you're not sure about that and to check things over.
As for the sleeping bag, get a sheet sleeping bag. I sewed my own out of silk, which is good because it keeps you cool, or if it's cold keeps you warm. Whatever fabric you gets yours in ( sheet sleeping bags can be bought in shops), there's no need to get a proper sleeping bag because it'll be too hot.
I won't be going to the pre-departure day as I'm off in three weeks now until July 2008 - but I'll see you in India!!!! Can't wait!
Have a great summer, and see you in India!

Hi everyone, just having a quick read of your discussions and thought it was about time i made myself known!
I'm gona be doing orphanage trip in Jan 2008, is that the same as any of you? I'm really looking forward to meeing everyone at the pre-departure course (October i think?) and as i have learnt from reading the stuff your gona be about as nervous as me on Thursday when A Level results come out! Sending you all good luck
All the fundraising ideas sound wicked, not long to go now! I'm clearing some of the shizzle out of my room (that i'm defo not gona need in India!) to make a little money hopefully.
Is anyone done with fundraising yet? Lucky things!
Take care all, hopefully hear from you soon

I've no idea! I'm going to this interview day on Sept 8th so i'm hoping to meet some people on the same placement there. It seems that most people do the orphanage projects though. I'm pleased that i've found somebody though! I'm excited but i've never done anything like this before, what about you?
